The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Legacy Newspaper Chapel in Zamfara state has set up a three man credentials committee to conduct fresh election for the Chapel.

A statement signed jointly by the Chapel’s Chairman and his Secretary, Comrade Aliyu Buhari Gusau and Comrade Haruna Muhammed respectively revealed that, the Union has unanimously agreed during its Congress meeting held at the Company’s conference Hall that, the former State Treasurer and a one time Director General, Comrade Dahiru Samaila Mafara will chair the committee with the membership of incumbent State Treasurer of the Union, Comrade Jamilu Sani Tsafe and Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare as Secretary respectively.

Addressing members of the Chapel earlier before the inauguration of the credentials committee, chairman of the chapel, Comrade Aliyu Buhari stated that the tenure of the incumbent officials of the chapel has already expired in June which necessitated for another fresh election.

He charged the credentials committee to reposed the confidence of the members and ensure the conduct of free, fair and acceptable election for the Union.

In his acceptance speech shortly after the inauguration, the chairman of the credentials committee, Comrade Dahiru Samaila Mafara thanked members of the Chapel for finding them worthy to undertake the exercise and promised to abide by the Constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists while discharging their responsibilities.

The committee was given three weeks within which to conduct the election.
