Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya has appealed to the general public to support security agencies to end banditry.

Lt. Gen. Faruk who made the plea during an operational visit to Katsina state said, he arrived the state to interact with troops to know their challenges, encourage them and appreciate their efforts.

Yahaya who visited the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, said Military will continue to discharge their duties professionally in collaboration with other security agencies in the state with a view to restoring normalcy.

Earlier, the state governor Aminu Bello Masari informed the Chief of Army Staff that, 10 out of 34 Local Government Areas were facing series of frequent attacks by the bandits on daily basis.

Masari lamented that, the bandits kill, rape, mime, kidnap, destroy, injure people, burnt their houses and rustle animals. Saying the Katsina State government was not happy with the situation therefore called the military to restore normalcy.

Adding that, the state government has set up various committees and assured the COAS of continues support with necessary logistics to enable them succeed in their operations.

Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya also visited Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Kabiru-Usman who expresed concern on the lingering security challenges and prayed for peace and restoration of peace and tranquility in the state and the country in general.
