Late Umar Musa ‘Yar Adua, former president of Nigeria

Mr Aminu Yar’Adua, 36, the son of late former President Umar Yar’Adua, in yola prison for allegedly crushing four people in an auto crash in Yola.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court by the prosecutor, Insp. Zakka Musa, the accused had, while driving along Yola bye pass on 23 June, 2021 , crushed six people as a result of over speeding and reckless driving.

Aminu,  who is a student of the American University of  Nigeria (AUN) Yola, was charged to court by Police for allegedly causing death by dangerous driving and over speeding on 23 June, 2021.

According to the FIR, “Those that died in the accident were identified as; Aisha Umar (30), Aisha Mamadu (32), Suleiman Abubakar(2) and Jummai Abubakar (30), while, Rejoice Annu (28) and Hajara Aliyu(27) sustained injuries”

The dependant Aminu ‘Yar Adua denied the allegations, when the FIR was read to him as prayed by the prosecutor.

The prosecuting officer Inp. Musa told the court that the relatives of late Suleiman Abubakar, Jummai Abubakar and Aisha Umar are demanding for the sum of Fifteen Million Naira as compensation.

The Magistrate, Jummai Ibrahim has adjourned the matter to 19th August, 2021, for further mention, and ordered that the ex-president’s son be remanded in prison custody until then as pleaded by the prosecutor.
