The Katsina State Government has announced the death of 60 people in a cholera outbreak in the state that has infected more than 1,400 people.

State Commissioner for Health Yakubu Danja made this known during a meeting with leaders of the Nigeria Medical Association in Katsina.

Danja said the government has distributed free Anti-retroviral drugs to hospitals in the state to curb the spread of the killer disease, as well as declaring ways for the public to protect themselves from contracting the disease.

Last week, authorities in Sokoto and Zamfara states announced the death toll of 53, 30 of them in Zamfara State while 23 in Sokoto.
