The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Legacy newspaper Chapel has elected new officials to run the affairs of the union for the next three years tenure..

The election was held at the primeses of the Legacy newspaper Company which gave the contestants the chance to become winners of various respective positions.

Announcing the results of the election, chairman of the Credentials Committee, Comrade Dahiru Samaila Mafara said, out of the seven positions contested by the Chapel members, only three positions were filled by candidates who having passed the screening process by the Credentials Committee were declared elected winners of their respectives positions.

According to the chairman of the Credentials Committee, Surajo Muhammad is the duly elected chairman of the Chapel, while Hajara Abdullahi emerged as the Chapel Financial Secretary and Ibrahim Muhammad is similarly elected as Auditor.

Speaking shortly after administering Oarth of office, chairman of the state council, Comrade Bello Boko charged new officials to put the interest of the union first and respect its Constitution.

He further stated that a bye election would be preferred to fill the vacant positions of the Chapel.

Boko said, nothing can move the Chapel forward than support and cooperation from the members, therefore he said, it’s necessary to give the new officials maximum support and cooperation to actualize the desired progress of the union.

Among the important personalities who graced the occasion, are the Managing Director, Alhaji Iliyasu Idris Gusau, represented by Features Editor, Mallam Abdulhadi Karakkai, Secretary of the State Council, Nasiru Aula Dabbakal as well as former council chairman, Comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura among others.
