Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has on Tuesday, ordered the immediate suspension of all weekly cattle markets and banned sales of petroleum products in jerricans across the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Ahmed Matane, saying, the state governor has also suspended the operations of trucks carrying Firewood and Timber across the state.
The SSG explained that, the measures were part of the Governor’s efforts to address the lingering security challenges beveling the state.
According to Ahmed Matane, the governor has also ordered that all vehicles carrying cattle into the state must show a way-bill and evidence of the origin where the cattle were purchased and their final destinations.
Noting that, the governor has also ordered all filling stations across the state not to sell fuel exceeding N10,000 at a time and to be wary of motorcycles and vehicles coming back for a repeat purchase.
Adding that, Governor Abubakar Bello has equally banned the operations of motorcycles from 6pm to 6am all over the state.
While condemning the activities of bandits in the state, the governor has urged the citizens of the state to be very vigilant and security conscious.
The governor has directed all security agencies in the state to ensure strict compliance.
It would be recalled that governments of Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina has also taken similar measures to address security challenges bedevilling Northwest.
