Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has approved the the reopening of seven (7) selected weekly markets in the state that has been closed in August due to devastating security challenges.

This was announced through a statement signed by the state Commissioner for information, Hon Ibrahim Magaji Dosara and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The markets approved to resume operations were Nasarawa Burkullu (Bukkuyum LG), Talata Mafara, Gusau, Shinkafi, Kasuwar Daji (Kaura Namoda LG), Nasarawa Godel (Birnin Magaji LG) and Dan Jibaga (Tsafe LG).

However, the state government did not lift the ban on the buying and selling of livestocks in all these markets.

The state government has also warn against violation of law and order saying that government will not hesitate to shut down again, any market found to be violating the order.

“People should not be seen carrying weapons into the markets, as well as, no person should be seen attacking or threatening anybody in the name of whatever group or organization.

“Security agencies are by this notice, directed to ensure that people carryout their lawful businesses within and around the markets without harassment or intimidation.

“Task force for the implementation of executive order should ensure compliance and guard against breach of Executive order.” The statement read.
