As the world celebrates world Toilet day, it is revealed that there has been limited progress over the last two years in the flight against open defecation in Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement issued to news men in Sokoto by UNICEF during the 2021 world Toilet day celebration.

According to the statement, new figures the rate of open defecation in Nigeria has ramained steady at twenty three percent, as many as fourty six million Nigerians still defecate in the open.

The statement added that, the state with the highest rate of open defecation are Kwara, Plateau, and Ebonyi.

Those with the lowest rate are Abia, Zamfara, and Akwa ibon.

UNICEF also advocated that, more needs to be done to ensure that all Nigerinas have access to safe toilet, to ending open defecation across the country.
