The Sokoto State University (SSU), has on Saturday, 27th November, 2021, matriculated about 2000 new students into the various Departments of the institution.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued and made available to “Smarts News” in Sokoto by the Information Officer of the University,
Zayyanu Shehu, saying
the Vice-chancellor (VC) of the University, Prof Sani Mohammed Dangoggo disclosed this at the 8th matriculation ceremony of the school for the 2020/2021 academic session.

According to him, the VC warned the students against social vices, such as cultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism, indecent dressing among others. He stressed that the institution had zero tolerance for vices.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, enjoined the students to abide by the code of conduct of the institution.

Professor Dangoggo advised them to be wary of bad friends, saying that indecent dressing would not be tolerated on the campus.

“As a means of achieving academic success, your statutory duties, include, but are not limited to attending classes regularly and promptly, writing tests, assignments and examinations”.

He further explained that matriculation ceremony marks the formal conferment of students status through the administration of the matriculation oath.

“Thus, at this occasion, you the fresh students will be matriculated into the various undergraduate programmes of one of the best Universities in the country, he added”.

Professor Dangoggo noted that as part of the University’s statutory duties, it would organise an orientation programme for them in the the second week of the second semester to make them acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations of the school.

He thanked the Visitor to the University and Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR (Mutawallen Sokoto) for his unflinching support that made possible for the institution to attain an enviable height.

On his part, ,the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Bashir Garba, MFR, represented by the Provost, Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Dr. Wadata Hakimi congratulated the matriculating students. He urged them to take their studies serious.

Professor Garba assured them that the stated government is committed to making the University one of the best in the country.

He disclosed that, though, the University is still a baby but he was happy to announce that its product is a member of the Sokoto State Executive Council.
