Former Military Administrator of Nasarawa State, Colonel Bala Mande (rtd) emerged as the elected Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zamfara State Chapter.
Secretary of the electoral committee, sentr by the National Secretariat of the PDP, who conducted the State Congress of the party Jamilu Abubakar Danbatta, said, Col. Bala Mande (rtd) chairman caretaker committee of the party returned victorious during the Congress.
Others elected officials were, Professor Kabiru Umar Jabaka as Deputy Chairman; Faruk Ahmad Shattima, Secretary; Madina Shehu, Women Leader.
Others Were Usamatu Maharazu Talata Mafara, Treasurer; Abdulsami’u Salmanu Kwatarkwashi, Youth Leader while Abba Bello Oando returned as the Publicity Secretary of the Party.
He also announced, Malam Abul Mustapha, former chairman PDP Caretaker Committee, Gusau Local Government Area as the Zonal Vice Chairman, Zamfara Central; Ali Namoda Zonal Vice Chairman, Zamfara North and Mu’azu Gwashi, Zonal Vice Chairman, Zamfara West senatorial districts respectively.
All the 1,546 Delegates elected the officials who returned unopposed.
Col. Bala Mande (rtd) was the Minister of Environment, Federal Republic of Nigeria in the year 2003 during the Olusegun Obasanjo led government and former Chief of Staff, Zamfara State Government House, Gusau in the 2020 until his voluntary resignation in 2021.
During an interview with journalists shortly of the the Congress, Newly elected secretary of the Party, Faruk Ahmad Shattima berated thugs who wanted to stop the Congress.
He noted that, the unknown Political Thugs should have confront Bandits who are terrorising the state, not innocent party members who were discharging their constitutional rights.
“We expected that already, so we made Plans, A, B and C manage unforeseen circumstances which manifested at our venue A” Secretary revealed.
Faruk Ahmad noted that, the All Progressives Congress (APC) factions of Gov Matawalle and Marafa respectively have conducted their parallel state Congresses unchallenged, but unfortunately political thugs were sent to disrupt PDP Congress, which according to him failed.
He therefore used the opportunity and called on the state government to take change of the security of the state, and work with security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the ugly act and bring them to Justice.
Shettima added that, the incident has increased the popularity of the party in the state, saying, come 2023 the party will takeover the state.
