Zamfara Police Command began 2022 operations with rescue of 21 Children kidnapped at Kucheri Village along Gusau -Funtua Road.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Zamfara State Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, revealed this to Newsmen at the Command headquarters in Gusau on the first day of 2022.

The PPRO said, the rescued children, 18 Boys and 2 girls were on transit to Dandume in Katsina state for Islamiyya School before they were kidnapped by the terrorists.

SP Mohammed who addressed newsmen on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana said, on the 31st of December, 2021 at about 11pm, Bandits in their large number have blocked the Federal Higher at Kucheri village in Tsafe Local Government Area of the State were they abducted unspecified number of commuters in Five different Vehicles.

According to him, PoliceTactical Operatives in conjunction with Military promptly responded to the distress call, moved to the scene and engaged the hoodlums to a serious Gun battle which led to the rescue of the Children.

He noted that, the Children were from Rini village in Bakura local government area of the state on transit in an 18 Seater Bus, along with their teacher, Malam Lauwali Ibrahim who at present in the bandits custody.

The Police image maker, urged people in the state to avoid traveling in the nights as Kidnappers usually take advantage to operates in the late hours.
