The Zamfara State Police command said, it has concluded investigations against the Five Suspects of Cannibalism who were arraign before the Chief Magistrate Court in Gusau.

Police Prosecutor, SP Jaafar Muhammad who disclosed this to the presiding judge, Sa’adu Garba Gurbin Bore during the court session for the further mention of the case, said, they have submitted their findings to the state government through the office of the Director Public Prosecution, DPP, of the State Ministry of Justice since 31st January, 2022.

SP Jafaar explained that, the Chief Magistrate Court has no jurisdiction in the case, hence the police submitted the outcome of their investigation to the DPP for reassignment of the case to court of competent jurisdiction for proper persecution.

Responding, the Presiding Judge, Chief Magistrate, Sa’adu Gurbin Bore said, the Court has no jurisdiction on such case but it can listen to the cognisance of the case, remand accused persons and referred the case to a court of competent jurisdiction.

The judge then adjourned sitting to 15th March, 2022 for further hearing and remanded the adult amongst them in the correctional Center and the minor to Remand home.

Families of the butchered late Ahmad have stormed the court, rising voices with noice demanding for justice and requested for the intervention of government, Human Rights activists and other Civil Society Organisations with a view to ensuring justice as pleaded by Sadiya Abdurrahman Hafizi, Aunty to the late Ahmad.

It could be recall that, on 25th January, 2022, Zamfara State Police Command has arraigned the Five Suspects to Chief Magistrate Court in Gusau for Criminal Conspiracy, Culpable Homicide and Cannibalism.

The Suspects were accused of Killing a 9 year old Ahmad Yakubu and ate some of his body organs such as intestine, eyes, Throat and genitalia.
