The students Wing of the Coalition of Northern groups (CNG) has advocated for the creation of Northwest Development Commission as the region also suffered much from banditry and other forms of criminality.
Alh. Ibrahim Tudu, Chairman, Zamfara State Coalition of NGOs who chaired Maitama Sule Leadership lecture organized by the CNG in Gusau said, the Northwest deserved the creation of a Commission to help revive the region from the dilapidation situation caused by the activities of Bandits and other Criminals.
During the lecture, themed; Security; Interrogating the Effect of Banditry on Education and Development in Northern Nigeria, the guest speaker, Abdulrahman Adamu, Chairman Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Federal University Gusau Chapter has attributed the lingering insecurity to the poor leadership as incompetent politicians are occupying offices that they can not manage effectively.
The ASUU Chairman, FUG Chapter said much need to be done to salvage the State from the bandits who operates on daily bases and traumatized most of the communities in Zamfara state and other states in the region
